1965 is
memorable for the deluge which flooded the track with a reported 5" of rain
in half an hour at about 7 1/2 hours into the
race (5:25 PM) and lap times plummet for about the next two hours. The winning
Chaparral sat in the pits for about 15 minutes at 7:50 race time to let the
flood subside.
